Algebra 1

Students will learn how to represent verbal quantitative situations algebraically and evaluate algebraic expressions for given replacement values of the variables.

In addition, students will perform operations on polynomials, including applying the laws of exponents to perform operations on expressions; adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing polynomials; factoring completely first and second degree binomials and trinomials in one variable; simplifying square roots of whole numbers and monomial algebraic expressions; cube roots of integers; and numerical expressions containing square or cube roots.

It also covered solving multistep linear equations and quadratic equations in one variable algebraically, literal equations for a specified variable, systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically and graphically, and practical problems involving equations, inequalities, and systems of equations.
