Today, we’re visiting the prestigious California Institute of Technology. Today is also the day that the once-in-a-century total solar eclipse is happening in North America. At Caltech, we are at a great observation site. Students learned about the science of astronomy while observing in a variety of ways. Some students use small-aperture imaging, some students use simple sunglasses, and some students use astronomical telescopes to observe indirectly.
“No matter how big or small, a rigorous scientific attitude is expected of everyone.”
A solar eclipse is a very common astronomical phenomenon, but every Caltech teacher and student was very patient and serious about it. No matter how big or small, a rigorous scientific attitude is expected of everyone. This is reflected everywhere on this small but excellent campus.
